Last night I had a blast from the past in my dream. I don’t normally have dreams from my time at high school. One character I recall from the dream was Monica. There was a huge dance going on, and for some reason, rather than everyone just dancing everywhere, they were all like dancing in unison… not like from some bad 80s movie… but like… boring soldiers.
Monica was this tall blond model who I was friends with… we had a little crush on each other for a while, but me being the dumbass I was in high school, I never made any serious moves beyond calling her a few times. She was really quite a character. I first met her when doing some 24 hours starvation thing to raise money for some charity.. can’t recall now. The high school allows those participating the sleep over at the high school through the night and provide juice boxes. She of course showed up standing 6′ tall with a single piece pjs… you know.. the kind babies wear… pigtails, and looking as cute as you could imagine. Somehow we hit it off, she ended up in my sociology class, and that’s all I recall about that.
ANYWAYS… in the dream.. we were dancing, and I was telling her how the whole dance was so lame because nobody was dancing to have fun. Later I recall us leaving and she brought me to a circle of her girlfriends and I was just telling jokes and everyone was standing around laughing… it was the only part of the night where it seemed like anybody was having a good time.
That was it… I wonder why I’m having these strange dreams recently/suddenly.

Today I have lost approximately 1 hour of productivity time dealing with the after effects of a previous person whom I had the displeasure of doing business with. This character is known in certain circles as some kind of expert, but the truth is, he is completely clueless. What bothers me most is that it took me a good few months to really figure this out. Normally I can smell guys like that from far away, but I guess because he was working with others who seemed good to me I figured there must be something to him.
It took a while, but later that entourage disappeared, and then glimpses of the trail of broken promises, and outright lies started to come to my attention. I suddenly realized my own name was at stake and made a mad dash to get away from him. However today I was once again reminded of just how far his ridiculous stories go.
A lot of this probably doesn’t make much sense to those reading this, other than those who know the intimate details of what took place. I guess my real rant is in how people to business and the lack of integrity that seems to exist everywhere today.
This past year alone, I look back and see a trail of broken promises, unfulfilled orders, and just outright misinformation and misguidance given by so many characters, it’s no wonder so many people have become jaded about the online business world.
At the same time however, it’s made me aware of how valuable business people like me are. Everyone who has ever dealt with me knows I am a straight shooter. I will tell you exactly what’s what, and if you don’t like it, you are more than welcome to find someone else who can do better. 
Just with what has happened to me over the past year, I think I could start a site that could list a sizeable amount of businesses/characters for whom you should ‘beware’ of. Some of them already have a fair amount said that I was only made aware of after it was too late 
… but who runs these ‘review’ sites is often up for question as well. I find a lot of these ‘consumer watcher’ characters are often jaded themselves and give a hard time to anyone whom they see as really successful regardless of their character.
Maybe the next best thing to come for the Internet, is to have lie detection built into our online communications. Hey, not a bad idea. … Imagine being able to be on a call with someone and have an app that picks up the tonalities in their voice which can determine if they are telling the truth or not. I have seen hand held devices that work that way, it’s all just software, so why not build it into an app? I tell ya, it will get these ridiculous characters who like to jump on the phone and spin a good story thinking twice before they try it. Or at least, the guy on the other end will know if he is dealing with a straight shooter, or a pile of doo doo that they can avoid stepping in.
Am I complaining? No, not entirely. Like I said earlier, this helps separate the boys from the men. I just thought/wished that by now, at my age and beyond, people had learned something… maybe I give others too much credit… maybe this is just the way things are that shows us the good from the bad. At least I will go forward a little wiser to ‘good ol’ boy’ manipulations, and to make sure anyone I work with in the future is accountable in word and action like myself.

My only prayer now is that all the damage this guy caused passes by entirely, and I can move forward completely free from having to deal with the BS which he caused/created. For those who are stupid enough to keep believing his lies, you get what you deserve.
Maybe I just have to close my eyes and tap my ruby slippers and say ‘There’s no place like home’ to get me out of this crazy world of liars. Seemed to work for Dorothy. Wait, I don’t own a pair of ruby slippers. (good thing, otherwise I might have some explaining to do :)) So I guess the best way to get them back, is to live well as others like to put it.
