I love this quote. Often times people equate being a Baha’i to an adherence to a static set of rules and laws. It is far more than that. Even worse, many Baha’is themselves think they are such when they simply declare it by name and not in action. Of course Abdu’l-Baha sets the record straight for everyone as to what really counts. I judge myself by this standard, and thus I will judge others as well. ;)
“He is a true Bahá’í who strives by day and by night to progress along the path of human endeavor, whose cherished desire is so to live and act as to enrich and illumine the world; whose source of inspiration is the essence of Divine Perfection, whose aim in life is to conduct himself so as to be the cause of infinite progress. Only when he attains unto such perfect gifts can it be said of him that he is a Bahá’í.”

I have been getting a little extremely past due spring cleaning done and happened across some Writings I used to have hanging on my wall at my old house. I printed out these Writings so I could read them often. This is one of a few others that I will post here soon. 
Do not take into consideration your own aptitudes and capacities, but fix your gaze on the consummate bounty, the divine bestowal and the power of the Holy Spirit — the power that converteth the drop into a sea and the star into a sun.
Peter was a fisherman and Mary Magdalene a peasant, but as they were specially favoured with the blessings of Christ, the horizon of their faith became illumined, and down to the present day they are shining from the horizon of everlasting glory. In this station, merit and capacity are not to be considered; nay rather, the resplendent rays of the Sun of Truth, which have illumined these mirrors, must be taken into account.
