Thoughts on Life

Many people in life do not understand just how precious every moment of life is. You have only one life. You have opportunities that will come, it’s up to you to take advantage of them. If you have someone who is precious to you, don’t lose it out of temporary fits of emotion, or confusion. Look at your life as a whole, always focus on the big picture, otherwise you lose your perspective on things, and those precious opportunities, those fantastic blessings that come into your life can disappear, along with the possibilities of what could be.. the most wonderful moments of your life.

Below is a Writing of Baha’u'llah which I try to use as a guide in the way I live my life each day. I might be young, but our time on this earth is short, and any moments spent in fussing and fighting are the most wasted moments and chances of your life. Read the following Writing. I hope you may adopt it as your guide in your life. It’s obvious that one who trying to life their lives in accordance to these words would lead a very fulfilled, happy, and noble life.

Enjoy

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face. Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer to the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge. Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech. Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men. Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression. Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility.
Baha’u'llah

Thoughts on Marriage

The bond that unites hearts most perfectly is loyalty. True lovers once united must show forth the utmost faithfulness one to another. You must dedicate your knowledge, your talents, your fortunes, your titles, your bodies and your spirits to God, to Bahá’u'lláh and to each other. Let your hearts be spacious, as spacious as the universe of God!

Allow no trace of jealousy to creep between you, for jealousy, like unto poison, vitiates the very essence of love. Let not the ephemeral incidents and accidents of this changeful life cause a rift between you. When differences present themselves, take counsel together in secret, lest others magnify a speck into a mountain. Harbour not in your hearts any grievance, but rather explain its nature to each other with such frankness and understanding that it will disappear, leaving no remembrance. Choose fellowship and amity and turn away from jealousy and hypocrisy.

Your thoughts must be lofty, your ideals luminous, your minds spiritual, so that your souls may become a dawning-place for the Sun of Reality. Let your hearts be like unto two pure mirrors reflecting the stars of the heaven of love and beauty.

Together make mention of noble aspirations and heavenly concepts. Let there be no secrets one from another. Make your home a haven of rest and peace. Be hospitable, and let the doors of your house be open to the faces of friends and strangers. Welcome every guest with radiant grace and let each feel that it is his own home.

No mortal can conceive the union and harmony which God has designed for man and wife. Nourish continually the tree of your union with love and affection, so that it will remain ever green and verdant throughout all seasons and bring forth luscious fruits for the healing of the nations.

O beloved of God, may your home be a vision of the paradise of Abha, so that whosoever enters there may feel the essence of purity and harmony, and cry out from the heart: Here is the home of love! Here is the palace of love! Here is the nest of love! Here is the garden of love!

Be like two sweet-singing birds perched upon the highest branches of the tree of life, filling the air with songs of love and rapture.

Lay the foundation of your affection in the very center of your spiritual being, at the very heart of your consciousness, and let it not be shaken by adverse winds.

And, when God gives you sweet and lovely children, consecrate yourselves to their instruction and guidance, so that they may become imperishable flowers of the divine rose-garden, nightingales of the ideal paradise, servants of the world of humanity, and the fruit of the tree of your life.

Live in such harmony that others may take your lives for an example and may say one to another: Look how they live like two doves in one nest, in perfect love, affinity and union. It is as though God had kneaded the very essence of their beings for the love of one another.

Attain the ideal love that God has destined for you, so that you may become partakers of eternal life forthwith. Quaff deeply from the fountain of truth, and dwell all the days of your life in the paradise of glory, gathering immortal flowers from the garden of divine mysteries.

Be to each other as heavenly lovers and divine beloved ones dwelling in a paradise of love. Build your nest on the leafy branches of the tree of love. Sail upon the shoreless sea of love. Walk in the eternal rose-garden of love. Bathe in the shining rays of the sun of love. Be firm and steadfast in the path of love. Perfume your nostrils with the fragrances from the flowers of love. Attune your ears to the soul-entrancing melodies of love. Let your aims be as generous as the banquets of love, and your words as a string of white pearls from the ocean of love. Drink deeply of the elixir of love, so that you may live continually in the reality of Divine Love.

THE MARRIAGE TABLET

‘Abdu’l-Bahá

My favorite part of this quote is, “No mortal can conceive the union and harmony which God has designed for man and wife.” I have often said that the most powerful force in the world is a man and woman united. This portion of the above quote seems to indicate I might be on target with this concept. Most have taken marriage and trivialized it into a child like game. Perhaps because the people themselves have not matured enough to handle it. Regardless, this is the standard for myself, and of course the standard for that significant other that has it within her power to keep me. :) … After reading this, I wonder how many get get honest enough with themselves about how well they treat their marriage.

Thoughts on Love

Know thou of a certainty that Love is the secret of God’s holy Dispensation, the manifestation of the All-Merciful, the fountain of spiritual outpourings. Love is heaven’s kindly light, the Holy Spirit’s eternal breath that vivifieth the human soul. Love is the cause of God’s revelation unto man, the vital bond inherent, in accordance with the divine creation, in the realities of things. Love is the one means that ensureth true felicity both in this world and the next. Love is the light that guideth in darkness, the living link that uniteth God with man, that assureth the progress of every illumined soul. Love is the most great law that ruleth this mighty and heavenly cycle, the unique power that bindeth together the divers elements of this material world, the supreme magnetic force that directeth the movements of the spheres in the celestial realms. Love revealeth with unfailing and limitless power the mysteries latent in the universe. Love is the spirit of life unto the adorned body of mankind, the establisher of true civilization in this mortal world, and the shedder of imperishable glory upon every high-aiming race and nation.

Whatsoever people is graciously favoured therewith by God, its name shall surely be magnified and extolled by the Concourse from on high, by the company of angels, and the denizens of the Abha Kingdom…

O ye beloved of the Lord! Strive to become the manifestations of the love of God, the lamps of divine guidance shining amongst the kindreds of the earth with the light of love and concord.

All hail to the revealers of this glorious light!
                                                 ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

A great quote.. It has always encapsulated the concept of love in words better than I could ever express.

Thoughts on Relationships

Well.. on many occasions I have been the one that my friends turn to for help with their relationships. If I had a dime for every person on the Internet I have talked to, helping them out with their relationships, I would be a rich man today :).. Since I was very young.. I thought a lot about relationships, seeing them around me, being in them, looking at how they worked. Reading a lot about human nature, and my studies of the spiritual nature of humanity has really given me an insight into the ways people “relate”.

Communication

That is what I believe makes the very foundation of ANY relationship. Whom ever you are with, you must have the ability to effectively share your thoughts, feelings, and ideas with each other. The most common break down of most relationships is due to lack of or poor communication with each other. This can happen in many ways which I will illustrate in this example.

A couple get into an argument.. she says.. “You never take me anywhere, you don’t love me!” and the man replies, “What are you talking about? I tell you that I love you everyday!!” Now, what are we seeing here? I really do believe they love each other.. but their understanding of how each other communicate is very poor. The woman in this case communicates on what is called a kinesthetic level. She understand the feeling in love in what is done.. she has to feel it with doing things with her mate. On the other hand, the man understands love through auditory input, in what is said. He understands the feeling and ideal of love in the words “I love you” more then anything else. Him telling her everyday that he loves her, as far as he can understand, should be enough! For her though.. it’s the things he does that matter, if he takes her out, or buys her things. In these ways she can see the “action” put forth that communicates the love.

When we look at the situation, it has nothing to do with if they love each other or not, it’s the way they communicate it to each other that is causing the misunderstanding, and thus miscommunicating to each other what they really feel. Now just because they have different ways of understanding and communicating does not mean they cannot have a successful relationship, it just means they have to become aware of their partners way of understanding and communicating things. Unfortunately, the majority of people in society are not ever given any kind of education in this respect.

Relationships go beyond just you and the other person.. a successful relationship is one where you are not looking at eachother, but rather, you are both looking in the same direction. It’s the vision that both of you share that matters most.

Personally, in my life, I am not a believer in relationships as they are commonly believed in now. I will not get involved in a relationship with a woman unless I KNOW from the beginning that it’s going to lead to marriage. Some might say, “But, love might grow”… no no no .. see.. you know from the start… IF you know what you are looking for.. and I do. I know the kinds of values, attributes, sexiness, and dreams I want my future wife to be to have.. it will all compliement my own really. I am not being unrealistic really in what I am expecting, just wanting the best, rather the the mediocre like most people have come to settle for when it comes to relationships (I hear it ALL the time.. mostly from woman afraid to be alone and that they won’t find a real man).

I consider myself as someone on a journal to meet my lifemate, however, it’s not going to happen till I have gotten things clear for myself in my own life. Sooo until then, I will continue to journey on. I don’t mind meeting girls and going out and having a good time.. but I am very particular about them understanding that it’s not going to develop into a relationship.. if I have already decided that they don’t have what I’m looking for. I guess you could say 1st impressions are pretty important to me :) … no.. I don’t judge to quickly.. I simply know what I want.. and if you ever had a conversation with me… you know I find out quickly if the girl I’m with has it or not. :) .. It’s amazing what an hour with me over a cappucino will reveal :) ..

My Thoughts on Faith

As ye have faith, so shall your powers and blessings be.
This is the balance - this is the balance - this is the balance.
                                                 `Abdu’l-Baha

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a man of Faith. In all aspects of what I do I walk by faith and not by site. Faith is the opposite of fear. Take a person who lives by fear, and one that lives by faith, and you can see how it impacts their entire outlook.

Faith is the power which enables.

Faith in God, the power which calls on the universe to bend to your will to do His work.
